Computer Science
I am majoring in computer science at Sacramento State University. Computer science is the study of computers and computing as well as their theoretical and practical applications. The main part of majoring in computer science is learning how to code in different languages. Computer science uses math, engineering, and logic in order to create what your mind desires. The boundaries that are you are provided through the coding learned in computer science are limitless. Everything that is in computers has code and learning how to code gives you the ability to create what you want to create. As I plan to become a software engineer after I graduate with my bachelor's degree in Computer Science, I have been working on learning how to code in different languages. In my first university-level computer science class, which was CSC 15, I learned how to code using Java. After graduating from Sacramento State University, my goal is to become well-versed in as many coding languages as I can and a software engineer for a new and innovative technology company in order to be a part of something revolutionary. In order to reach this goal, I still need to learn and improve my skills in many different coding languages which include Python, Java, and C++. While I will be able to learn these languages from the courses provided in my major, I still plan on self-learning in order to hone my skills. I plan to finish my bachelor's degree in four years in which I will be taking fourteen to eighteen units every semester. My first two years of university will mainly be consisted of finishing my general education while learning from one to two computer science courses every semester. After I finish my general education requirements, I will then focus on my computer science major and try to become as skilled in coding as I possibly can.
